Freemasonry in the Heart of Walmer

Welcome to Lord Warden Lodge 1096, the historic and official lodge of Walmer. Consecrated in 1866, we’ve been part of the Walmer and Deal community for over 150 years — bringing people together through friendship, integrity, respect, and service.

Whether you’re curious about Freemasonry, looking to meet new people, or hoping to give something back to your community, you’ll find a warm welcome here.

INTEGRITY

Rather than working on buildings like the masons of old, today’s Freemasons focus on building themselves as people of integrity, and membership provides the structure to help achieve that goal.

FRIENDSHIP

One of the oldest social organisations in the world, Freemasonry is not defined by an ideology. It is open to people from all religions and political persuasions and provides the common foundation for friendships between members, many of which will last for life.

RESPECT

With a membership of more than 150,000 people drawn from communities across the UK, Freemasonry brings people together irrespective of their race, religion or any other perceived differences that can divide us as a society.

SERVICE

Whether participating in events, fundraising for a charitable cause or volunteering for public or community organisations, service is at the very heart of Freemasonry. Our members make valuable contributions by donating time, resources and skills.

Who We Are

Founded in 1866, Lord Warden Lodge has been part of the fabric of Deal for more than 150 years. Today, we continue that tradition with a modern, inclusive approach to Freemasonry built on:

  • Friendship — meeting like‑minded people and forming lifelong bonds
  • Integrity — becoming the best version of yourself
  • Charity — supporting local and national causes
  • Respect — valuing people from all backgrounds

If you’ve ever wondered what Freemasonry is really about, we’re here to show you.

What We Do

Our lodge meets regularly between October and May, with additional social events throughout the year. Members enjoy:

  • Engaging ceremonies that explore moral and philosophical themes
  • Social evenings, dinners, and events with family and friends
  • Opportunities to support local charities and community projects
  • A welcoming environment for personal growth and learning

You don’t need any special knowledge to join — just an open mind and a willingness to take part.
