100 and 150 Celebrations

100 Years of Lord Warden Lodge — Introduction

For a century, Lord Warden Lodge No. 1096 has stood as a constant presence in the heart of Deal, bringing together men of integrity, curiosity, and goodwill. Founded in 1866, the lodge has weathered social change, world events, and the passing of generations — yet its core values of friendship, charity, and personal growth have remained unchanged.

Our first hundred years tell a story of dedication: members who gave their time, their energy, and their hearts to building a lodge that would endure. From early meetings lit by gas lamps to the post‑war revival of the 20th century, Lord Warden Lodge has always been a place where men come together to support one another and serve their community.

As we celebrate this remarkable milestone, we honour the brethren who shaped our past and look forward with confidence to the next century of Freemasonry in Deal

Centenary Jewel

The Centenary Jewel

The Centenary Jewel holds a special place within Lord Warden Lodge, symbolising a hundred years of dedication, brotherhood, and Masonic continuity. It is proudly worn on the collar of the Worshipful Master, serving as a visible reminder of the lodge’s long and distinguished history.

More than just an ornament, the jewel represents the collective achievements of the brethren who guided the lodge through its first century. Every Worshipful Master who wears it becomes part of that unbroken chain of leadership, honouring the past while carrying the lodge forward into the future.

A Collar Passed Through Generations

The Master’s collar, bearing the Centenary Jewel, is passed from Worshipful Master to Worshipful Master at each installation. This tradition reinforces the idea that leadership within the lodge is not owned, but entrusted — held for a time, respected, and then handed on.

As the collar changes hands, it symbolises continuity, responsibility, and the shared commitment of all who have served in the Chair. Each new Master adds his own chapter to the lodge’s story, while the jewel reminds him that he stands on the shoulders of those who came before.

150 Years of Lord Warden Lodge — Introduction

Reaching 150 years is more than a celebration — it is a testament to the strength, resilience, and spirit of Lord Warden Lodge No. 1096. Since 1866, our lodge has welcomed generations of men who sought friendship, purpose, and the chance to make a positive difference. Through times of peace and conflict, prosperity and challenge, the lodge has remained a steady and respected part of the Deal community.

This sesquicentennial anniversary invites us to reflect on the countless stories, traditions, and shared moments that have shaped our identity. It reminds us that Freemasonry is not simply a set of rituals, but a living heritage carried forward by the character and commitment of its members.

As we mark 150 years, we celebrate not only our history but our future — a future built on the same principles of integrity, charity, and brotherhood that have guided us since the very beginning.

Below are pictures of the Table Mat produced celebrating this event, along with a Firing Glass presented to each member of the Lodge.
